Ava

We added a new addition to our family, a Belgian Shepherd from “Midwest Malinois.”

My husband had wanted a Malinois for two years. I had done some research on the web and found that it was very important to have a well-socialized puppy with excellent breeding. This was very important since the new puppy would be joining our established family pets.

I filled out the puppy questionnaire on the “Midwest Malinois” website and within 24 hours I received a phone call from Kevin Felts. Kevin took the time to answer all my questions and addressed all my concerns. I was pleased with the extent of Kevin’s knowledge and understanding of the breed. After an hour on the phone I had arranged a time to come and visit in person with Kevin and meet his wonderful dogs.

My daughter joined me and was very impressed with the speed, ability, and bite work of the adults. Even though the adult dogs were quite aggressive during the bite work demonstration, once Kevin gave the command they all switched back to loving and sweet dogs content to be petted.

Then Kevin brought the puppies out from the litter of Pasha and Mikhail. They were rambunctious and full of energy. All the puppies were bold and outgoing, certainly not afraid of the rough and tumble play with their littermates, but also willing to accept affection from us. My daughter and I picked out one that I thought my husband would like.

I returned with my husband a few days later. We met Joyce Felts, a truly sweet woman, and my husband picked out his puppy. The same one I thought he would select.

We brought our little girl home that day and we named her “Ava.” Later that day Ava received her purchase exam from our veterinarian. Our vet was impressed with the excellent confirmation and joint structure. Ava had her eyes thoroughly examined, which were found to be normal. Excellent lung and heart sounds with no murmur. We provided a fecal sample and Ava was free of any intestinal parasites, plus no fleas or flea dirt.

We have a very healthy puppy.

Ava has learned the routine of the farm and house very quickly. She has accepted her place in the family with our 2 other dogs Leigh and CJ. Ava has also learned that our house cat is not to be harassed. Should Ava forget, our cat gives her a smack on the nose. Ava is our housedog. She was quick to learn house training and goes to the door when she needs to go potty.

Ava is a very intelligent puppy; she has learned her leash commands with ease. And although she is full of energy and drive, Ava is a sweet, loving puppy full of kisses that likes to cuddle. At naptime she is quite content to snuggle and curl up to sleep beside us on the couch.

My husband and I would like to thank Kevin and Joyce Felts for breeding and raising such well-rounded Malinois. We would highly recommend “Midwest Malinois” to anyone interested in the breed. We have a true companion and protector in Ava and are thrilled to have her in our family.
